A map of Utah with the 801 and 385 area code overlay in red and area code 435 in white.
North AmericanArea code 435 is a telephonearea code which covers all of the U.S. state of Utah outside the Wasatch Front (which includes the Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Provo metropolitan areas in northern Utah). It split from the 801 area code on September 21, 1997, and includes Beaver, Brigham City, Castle Dale, Cedar City, Coalville, Duchesne, Fillmore, Heber City, Hurricane, Junction, Kanab, Loa, Logan, Manila, Manti, Moab, Monticello, Nephi, Park City, Panguitch, Parowan, Price, Randolph, Richfield, St. George, Tooele, Washington, and Vernal. Before area code 435 entered service, 801 had been Utah's sole area code for half a century.
435 is one of the most thinly populated area codes in the nation; the great majority of Utah's population–and with it, most of its landlines and cell phones–is located along the Wasatch Front. As a result, 435 is nowhere near exhaustion. The most recent NANPA projections do not list an exhaust date for 435, meaning that it will remain in its present configuration for the foreseeable future.[1]
